A Typical Experience at the Nature Moves Camp for Autistic Kids

Here at Nature Moves, our camps are structured yet flexible. The routine is crafted to provide a safe, enjoyable, and enriching experience for children on the autism spectrum, allowing them to explore, learn, and grow in an environment that respects their individual needs.

Below is what you can expect on a Nature Moves Camp.

Monday Routine:
Pick up at 7:30am.

Drive to the Glass House Mountains and stop at a local park where we have a group introduction, get to know each other and a few games.

Hike Mt Ngungun: We then hike Mt Ngungun, and once we have arrived at the summit, we enjoy a picnic lunch with refreshing beverages. 

Drive to Boreen Point Camping Ground: Once our hike has been completed, and we have enjoyed our lunch, we then head to Boreen Point Camping Ground where we get ourselves setup, with a little bit of housekeeping, followed by showers, dinner, and campfire activities.

Lights out at 8pm. 

Tuesday Routine:

Wake up at 7:00am.

Breakfast: We enjoy breakfast as a group at 8am, followed by free play activities that might include swimming and paddle boarding. Once we have freshened up, we are ready to start the day.

Lunch: We will our tummy’s with a nutritious meal before heading out on our afternoon adventure.

Drive to Kondalilla Falls: We start our day with a drive to Kondalilla Falls, where we can enjoy playing in the waterfall and a refreshing swim. We then have an afternoon tea, before heading back to Boreen Point.

Freestyle Play: Once back at camp, we again enjoy some free play. The children often enjoy stand-up paddle boarding, swimming, and ball games or board games to fill their afternoons.

Dinner Routine: We freshen ourselves up with showers, and enjoy a camp style dinner and camp fire activities, followed by bed time routines.

Lights out at 8pm.

Wednesday Routine:

Wake up at 7:00am.

Breakfast: We enjoy breakfast as a group at 8am, before heading off on our morning activity.

Hiking Mount Coolum: We drive to Mount Coolum, and take on the amazing hike up the mountain, where we enjoy lunch up the top, before making our decent back down after lunch.

Back at Camp Base: Once we have arrived back at camp base, we enjoy stand-up paddle boarding, kayaking, swimming, building sandcastles, board games and more free play.

Dinner: After our afternoon of free play and fun, we get ourselves cleaned up and ready for a wholesome dinner to fill our bellies after a busy day.

Night Time Fun: We end the night with another camp fire, where we can enjoy telling scary camp stories, singing songs, and enjoying some music and each others company.

Lights out at 8pm.

Thursday Routine:

Wake up at 7am

Breakfast: We enjoy breakfast as a group at 8am, before heading off on our morning activity.

Noosa Park: Following breakfast, we pack up the cars and head to a local Noosa Park, where we have a range of activities to enjoy, including arts and crafts, swimming and lots of free play.

Lunch: We enjoy lunch at the park, before heading back to camp base.

Back at Camp Base: Once we have arrived back at camp base, we enjoy stand-up paddle boarding, kayaking, swimming, building sandcastles, board games and more free play.

Dinner: After our afternoon of free play and fun, we get ourselves cleaned up and ready for a yummy dinner, after another busy day.

Night Time Fun: We end the night with another camp fire, where we can enjoy some music and each others company.

Lights out at 8pm.

Friday Routine:

Wake up at 7am.

Breakfast: For the last day of camp, we enjoy a full breakfast, before heading up to Mt Cooroora.

Mt Cooroora: Our hike up and down Mt Cooroora takes up our morning activity of adventure, as we spot wildlife and different types of flowers and trees.

Morning Tea: We enjoy a lovely morning tea at the Mt Cooroora Lookout, before heading down and back to our camp base.

Packup: Once back at camp, it’s time to start packing up our camp and saying goodbye to our new friends.

Free Play: We enjoy our last little bit of free play for the final day on camp, before heading back home to our families.

Special Events and Additional Information:

  • Themed Days: Each camp may feature a special themed day, such as "Superhero Day" or "Nature Adventure Day," with activities centered around the theme. These events are designed to be inclusive and adaptable, ensuring that all children can participate comfortably.

  • Guest Workshops: Occasionally, guest specialists, such as animal therapists, musicians, or storytellers, are invited to conduct workshops. These sessions are designed to be engaging and therapeutic, providing children with new and enriching experiences.

  • Pickup and Drop off: We collect your child from their home or metro areas, and also drop off, for extra convenience and safety.

  • Camp Setup: Upon arriving at our camp grounds, there is no need for setup, as this has already been completed prior.
